1Will car coding void my warranty or affect my car's reliability?

It does not harm your car or change fundamental operation – so it's very unlikely to void your warranty. However, dealerships sometimes have differing policies. If you are concerned, GML Auto Keys offers a complimentary service to temporarily revert any coding before you take your car in for warranty work, and we can reapply it afterwards at no additional charge. Rest assured, our coding practices are safe and follow industry standards, ensuring your car remains reliable and every change is reversible if needed.

2How long does a car coding session take?

It depends on how many features or modules we are coding, but most coding sessions are relatively quick. On average, our mobile coding service takes about 30 minutes to an hour. For example, enabling a couple of features could be done in under an hour. If we are coding a replacement control unit, it may be on the longer side of that range due to the additional setup and testing required. Our van is equipped with all the necessary tools and technology to perform on-site coding and diagnostics. You need to have your vehicle and its keys available – we handle the rest. Of course, if you prefer to schedule service at a specific location, we can accommodate that as well.

5Will my old lost key stop working after you program a new key?

Yes – when we program new keys for you after a loss or theft, we can invalidate the old keys so they no longer work with your car. This is an important security step. We use our diagnostic tool to access your car's immobiliser system and either delete the lost key from memory or program the system to only recognise the new keys. Therefore, if someone finds or steals your old key, it will not start the vehicle. You can have peace of mind that your car is secure with the new keys. Note: In some older vehicles, it may not be possible to delete keys individually – the car accepts up to several keys and can't "blacklist" one key. In such cases, we will inform you, but this is rare. Nearly all modern cars allow for erasing lost keys. We always follow proper procedures to ensure your lost key is useless, and only the keys we hand to you will work going forward.
