At London Car Locksmith we research security vulnerabilities in vehicles, Trade information within our associations and security suppliers has shown that Mercedes vans are being broken into by thieves by removing or breaking through the plastic wheel arch at the front of the vehicle this then exposes the ECU.

They are removing the two electric plugs by force and plugging in their own ECU set with a matched key, they can then press the unlock button on their matched remote key which will unlock the van & turn off the alarm system (including any retrofitted CAN Alarm systems, Cat 2 to 1).

The thieves can then open the cab doors, change the electronic ignition switch behind the dash, insert their key in the electronic ignition and start the vehicle.
